When to Contact the Board of Directors

Updated: Mar 27, 2024

The Gardens of Bartlett Downs has many bylaws and covenants in order to maintain the beauty and home values of the neighborhood. It can be hard to know everything that is covered, but, we want to share some of the most common occurences in which board approval is required. One question we often get is "How do I know when I need to contact the board for approval?" The short answer is the homeowner should contact the board for approval whenever there is going to be a change to anything that impacts a home's phsyical structure, front yard or back yard. Now, that's the easy answer, but there's more to it. Let's say a homeowner wants to change their patio furniture. That impacts the appearance of the backyard, but not the phsyical structure of the home. That's a situation in which a board approval isn't necessary. But what if a homeowner wanted to replace their 8" fence with a 6" fence? That is definitely an instance in which the homeowner would need approval. Below is a general list of circumstances in which a homeowner needs approval from the board before moving forward:

  • Tree removal, front or back yard, if the the trunk is 9" or more 1 foot from the ground

  • Exterior house painting if the color will be different than the current color

  • Fence work

  • Temporary trailer use

  • Temporary storage use

  • Installation of a pool

  • Installation of outdoor storage buildings

  • Landscaping overhauls

This list isn't exhaustive, hence the rule of thumb mentioned above. If you need to get in touch with the board of directors in the following by calling (901) 290-8767 or emailing thegardensofbartlettdowns@gmail.com.
